Directions

Airport

When you arrive at Dublin airport arrivals hall (terminal 1 or 2) various buses are located outside the main arrival hall doors.

Airlink (747) Bus
The Airlink is an express bus into the city centre. It runs from 04:45 -00:30 7 days a week and goes approximately every 15 mins. The price is €7.00 for a single, €12 for return, €3.00 for under 16s and €5 return for under 16s. Once you’re on the bus the stop you are looking for is O’Connell Street – ask the driver to let you know when the bus has arrived here. When you reach O’Connell Street, head south over the river and on to D’Olier Street and Ashfield hostel will be on your left-hand side (see below).

16 Bus
If you want a cheaper option other than the Airlink, you can take the regular Dublin bus, number 16, that leaves from outside the terminal 1 arrivals hall. It will take a little longer as it will make a lot of stops on the way to the city centre but is a good way to save a few euros. The bus runs from 8.00–23.30 on Mon – Sat and 8.20–23.30 on Sundays.

The fare is €3.30 and you must have exact change for the driver as they cannot give you change in return and you cannot pay with notes, coins only. Get off the bus at D’Olier Street (the stop is called Ashfield house!!) after you cross the river Liffey and you’re there!

Aircoach
The Aircoach is another express bus from the airport which leaves from both terminals into the city centre. It’s a little more expensive (€7 single, €12 return), but it runs 24 hours a day and the bus is a bit more comfy too. There are ticket stands outside the terminals, make sure to tell them you’re going to the city centre. Get off the bus at Trinity College (stops are announced on the bus) and follow the directions below.

Airport Shuttle
We do have an airport shuttle service that will collect you from Ashfield reception at off peak hours for your return journey to the airport which leaves every 30 mins between 03.00-11.00 and is €7 one way (€6 per person if there’s a group of 4 or more). They can also collect you from the airport when you arrive if you book a day in advance on their website www.airportshuttle.ie but it must be for 4 people or more for airport collection.

Taxi
A taxi from the airport will be roughly between €25-€30 depending on the time of day and the traffic.

Train Stations:

There’s two main train stations for national routes arriving into Dublin city; Heuston station and Connolly station.

Heuston Station
If you’re arriving in to Dublin by train into Heuston station, probably the easiest way to get to the hostel is to take a left when you exit the station and walk to the Heuston stop on the Luas (tram) line. You can buy your ticket from the machines on the platform. Take the Luas until the Abbey street stop. The names of the stops are well signposted. Once you get off the Luas, head back in the direction you just came from on the tram and then take a left onto O’Connell Street. Continue over the river and on to D’Olier street and Ashfield is on the left-hand side.
